7 Face Charges in Machete-Wielding Motorcycle Chase

Police in Hung Yen Province have filed criminal charges against seven individuals for allegedly carrying dangerous weapons, riding motorcycles, and chasing rival groups through public streets, causing serious public disorder.

According to investigators, the suspects include Luu Quang Huy, Tran Huu Hao, Nguyen Duy Tan, Quach Tran Tuan Anh, all 17 years old, Hoang Duc Tien (20), and Pham Van Bien and Nguyen Van Minh (both 18).

All seven have been charged with Disturbing Public Order under Vietnamese law, Vietnamese detectives, investigators.

The incident occurred in the early hours of April 6, when a group of young men from several localities in Hung Yen Province traveled on multiple motorcycles while carrying metal pipes, knives, swords, and long homemade pole weapons.

After leaving a karaoke venue in Dong Hung Commune, the group rode toward Vo Nguyen Giap Street in Tra Ly Ward.

A dispute then escalated into a violent confrontation, with the groups chasing each other and attacking with weapons in the middle of the road, posing a serious threat to public safety and order.

Hung Yen Provincial Police warned that incidents involving teenagers and young adults gathering in groups and using weapons to settle personal disputes continue to present significant risks to public security.

Authorities noted that inadequate parental supervision and education have contributed to some young people being drawn into criminal activities, ultimately jeopardizing their own futures.
