Police in Hai Phong are investigating a case involving a young man who allegedly ignored a traffic officer’s order to stop. He reportedly rode his motorbike into an officer who was on duty.
The incident occurred at around 11am on October 5 2026, Vietnamese detectives.
A traffic police team was working on National Highway 5 in Dong Hai Ward when officers spotted two men riding a motorbike in the wrong lane.
Police ordered the rider to stop for inspection. However, he allegedly ignored the order and continued riding toward the officers.
The motorbike struck Captain Vu Son Tung, a traffic police officer. He fell onto the road and suffered a broken lower leg and a dislocated right ankle.
Vietnam investigators, police officers detained both men at the scene and handed them over to investigators.
Captain Tung was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and surgery.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and determine whether the rider could face charges for resisting law enforcement.
